Oasen cooperates with Logisticon on treatment systems for two new plants

Oasen is constructing two new treatment plants in Kamerik and Nieuw-Lekkerland, where, within a few years, Oasen will use membranes to treat groundwater to create clear and reliable drinking water. Logisticon Water Treatment is to build and supply the membrane systems for these plants. Frank Cammaert, Director of Logisticon and Oasen’s Director, Walter van der Meer, recently signed a contract for this.

High-quality systems

Another new step along the route to the realisation of two future-proof plants. The new drinking water treatment plants will be equipped with Reverse Osmosis technology; the finest available water treatment membrane filtration system. These high-quality systems will enable Oasen to guarantee the future supply of soft drinking water to consumers. The system also means that Oasen is prepared for future challenges, such as the increasing salinity of groundwater.

Building on knowledge and experience gained at Krimpen aan de Lek

Oasen and Logisticon will be cooperating intensively on the implementation design and construction plan in the coming months, building on knowledge and experience already gained during a previous partnership. During this partnership, Logisticon built the membrane system for our Krimpen aan de Lek treatment plant. This is the first Oasen plant to use membrane technology on a larger scale and has since supplied soft water to consumers in Krimpen aan den IJssel, Krimpen aan de Lek, Lekkerkerk and Ouderkerk aan den IJssel.

Energy-efficient design

Total electricity consumption is important during the development of the Reverse Osmosis system. We selected a design that is as energy efficient as possible, paying particular attention to the pumps needed to push the water through the membranes at high pressure. As the pumps are high energy consumers, this is where the major efficiency gains can be obtained. We are also examining how to make the systems even more energy efficient in the future in this and other areas.

About Oasen

Oasen produces drinking water for 750,000 people and 7,200 companies in 21 municipalities in the east of South Holland. Oasen supplies its consumers with 45 billion litres of drinking water a year using seven treatment plants, nine pump stations and a water tower to achieve this.
