Successful Pilot for Cooling Tower Blowdown Treatment in the Chemical Industry
Logisticon Water Treatment has successfully completed an innovative pilot project in the chemical industry for the treatment of cooling tower blowdown.
The Challenge: No Direct Discharge of Cooling Tower Blowdown
The key challenge in this project was that the cooling tower blowdown could not be discharged directly to the central wastewater treatment plant on the industrial site. Before discharge, the added cooling water treatment chemicals had to be effectively removed from the water stream.
The Solution: Membrane Barrier and Polishing Filtration
Following a thorough evaluation of various treatment options, the technology proposed by Logisticon was selected for practical testing. This marked an important step toward a controlled, safe, and compliant treatment process for this complex water stream.
The developed solution consisted of a combination of a membrane barrier and a dedicated polishing filtration system.
Key Benefits at a Glance
The pilot was completed successfully and confirmed the potential of this technology for applications where strict requirements apply to wastewater discharge and the removal of cooling water additives. The solution is fully automated and highly scalable, making it suitable for widespread deployment in similar industrial environments.
The results have already attracted interest from several organizations within the sector, which are currently exploring opportunities to implement this approach.
