Logisticon has a first! A circular energy storage container will be installed at the premises in Groot-Ammers. This energy storage solution is built based on battery cells from bicycle batteries. These still properly functioning cells are given a safe and useful second life in the energy storage system. This avoids the extraction of new raw materials for these batteries. That saves a lot of energy and CO₂ emissions!

The energy storage system stores the energy generated by the 1000 solar panels on Logisticon’s building and makes the electricity available when it is needed. This makes Logisticon much less dependent on the power grid. The system has a minimum storage capacity of 400 kWh.

Manufacturer Refurb Battery works together with bicycle and other battery manufacturers to give batteries a longer, extended life. In cooperation with experienced technical partners, they supply energy storage solutions to companies. Refurb Battery’s energy storage systems enable companies, such as those in the water treatment and wastewater treatment industries, to further increase their sustainability, reduce emissions from diesel generators and machinery, and solve grid congestion challenges. In May 2023, Refurb Battery won the Rabo Sustainable Innovation Award. This gives them the opportunity to develop their innovation even further.

The energy storage system will be supplied to Logisticon at the beginning of June.
