Flotation & sedimentation

Flotation and settling technologies can remove suspended and undissolved particles. With flotation this is done by means of uplift and with settlement the particles sink by the force of gravity. The suspended or settled particles can then be removed. To accelerate settling or uplift, physical and chemical pre-treatment is often used.

Dissolved air flotation (DAF)

Flotation techniques are used to remove insoluble contaminants, fats and oils from a liquid. In addition, flotation is the technique for removing (light) particles formed from an effluent stream eg following coagulation.

Micro air bubbles are introduced into a flotation unit to remove substances from the water by means of flotation (uplift). This takes place by allowing the small air bubbles to adhere to the dirt, after which it floats to the top. The dirt floating on top of the liquid is then removed with a scraper.

Logisticon has extensive experience in supplying DAF installations in a wide range of sectors such as the food, oil and gas and chemical industries. This is done in combination with buffers, pumps and chemical dosing of coagulant/flocculant.

Lamella separator

Available for: Sales Rental Service

By using gravity, suspended particles can be removed with a lamella separator. A slanted plate pack is fitted in the lamella separator to promote a laminar, even flow of the water and greatly increase the settlement area. Solid particles then settle and are collected in the funnels under the slats. The collected sludge is removed at fixed times by means of a pneumatically operated valve. For efficient removal of the sludge, the lamella separator is fitted with a ‘shooting tank’.

The standards that Logisticon has developed are based on a counter-current version with projected surfaces of 12, 45 and 90 m².

To accelerate settling, physical and chemical pre-treatment is often used.

Logisticon is experienced in settling with lamella separators in the food and chemical industries, among others.

Settling tank dortmund tank

Classic settling tanks or Dortmund tanks are used for settling sludge. The particles sink to the bottom by the force of gravity, where they can then be removed.

Logisticon's Dortmund/settlement tanks are used to settle sludge in a wide range of industries.

Oil/water separation

Available for: Sales Rental Service

Oil-water separators are used to separate non-emulsified oils or poorly soluble hydrocarbons from (waste) water.

By introducing a number of flow baffles, an oil-water separator is divided into several compartments. In the first compartment, coarse sedimentary particles (including sand) will be able to settle. In the next compartment, a floating layer with oil will be created due to the natural uplift (flotation) of the oil. An adjustable skimmer gutter can be used to drain off this floating oil. The removal efficiency is highly dependent on the influent concentrations and the type of oil. The cleaned water can be drained using an immersion baffle.

Optionally, a coalescing filter can be used. This is used to create a large specific surface. Small oil particles that do not naturally float upward at first will stick together into larger particles and float upward in that way. This enables these hydrocarbons to be removed more efficiently.

Logisticon deploys its oil-water separators extensively in many different groundwater and waste water projects.
