Logisticon Water Treatment achieves the energy sustainability objectives for 2023 in 2019

In 2050, the Dutch national government intends to have no more emissions of greenhouse gases. An Energy Agreement for sustainable growth of the Netherlands was subsequently drawn up with agreements on the share of renewable energy in 2023 and the road to 2050.

One of the goals is energy saving through an increase in the share of renewable energy. This share must be more than 16% in 2023.

As a designer and builder of water treatment installations, we have been working for years to reduce the Total Cost of Ownership (TOC) for our customers. An important part of this is determining the Life Cycle Costs, with chemicals and energy consumption in particular being important parameters. This means that we continuously design and build systems for our customers whereby we save energy compared to traditional systems. In some cases we even supply sustainable energy by installing solar panels for water treatment. Now Logisticon Water Treatment itself wants to be at the forefront of achieving these sustainability objectives

We have already entered into a contract with Eneco for the supply of sustainable energy via the electricity grid. At the end of 2018, Logisticon Water Treatment picked up the glove itself and purchased 380 solar panels of high German quality. With this, a yield of 95 MWh is expected per year. The expectation is that with these solar panels we can collect between 20-25% of our entire consumption. The yield however is much higher on sunny days.

In order to make this saving transparent, a digital panel has been placed in the hall on which everyone can see at a glance what the solar panels produce and so “Watts” we save.

Further environmental measures

Logisticon Water Treatment has also implemented a number of other environmentally-friendly measures such as:

  • Replacement of plastic coffee cups with paper cups. This is a total solution for the waste stream from coffee cups. The cups are fully recycled and are made 100% CO2 neutral. In addition to the recyclable disposable cups, the concept also includes resources for collection and communication in the workplace.
  • The first full electric car will soon be introduced in our fleet of lease cars
  • Reduction of base load by replacing gas discharge lamps in the workshop for LED lamps.
