LogistiContour 30 reported that the first inDENSE® installation in the Netherlands had been installed at the sewage treatment plant in Terneuzen. This installation has now been in use for more than six months. The results achieved are very good and to the full satisfaction of the customer.
The inDENSE® technology is being increasingly embraced by the Dutch water boards. At the beginning of 2024 Logisticon installed a pilot installation of 6 inDENSE® cyclones on one of the secondary settling tanks at the Amsterdam-West sewage treatment plant. The pilot will last approximately one year and during the year, Waternet will closely monitor the settling properties of the sludge. Given the size of the treatment plant in Amsterdam-West, the behavior of the sludge with and without sludge selection by the cyclones can be compared well. Samples will be taken and analysed weekly by Waternet’s process technologists, after which the results will be discussed with Logisticon and Sweco. The pilot will last at least one year to determine the influences of all seasons and to assess the operation over the seasons.
The goal to be achieved is:
The installation is integrated in the existing infrastructure. Due to the relatively small dimensions of the inDENSE® technology, placing part of the installation on the existing settling tank building and part within this building was no problem.
In all areas it has been taken into account that this is a pilot. The installation itself can be removed after the pilot and be rebuilt to its original setting. Regarding the control (local and remote) and the software connection with the Waternet system, a flexible solution has been chosen in close collaboration with Waternet. The system can therefore work both standalone and integrated into Waternet’s control system.
