A major French steel producer used an outdated and decentralized process water plant. This caused operational difficulties. Especially during bad weather the turbidity of the intake water (surface water) was too high. Occasionally, a switch from surface water to drinking water was made to avoid downtime. When this was no longer allowed by the government, a new, centralized and modern water treatment plant was needed to ensure production continuity.
