Effluent polishing industrial waste water

Problem

The customer, one of the biggest refineries in the Rotterdam harbor and an important producer of lower emission fuels, faced an occasional exceedance of the discharge limit for TSS in the wastewater. For assurance purposes the refinery looked for an additional and efficient barrier for TSS.

Solution

The most suitable solution for the problem was sand filtration. After conduction various pilot tests, the most efficient filtration velocity was found. The result: 800 m³/hour at sand filtration surface of 50 m².
