Compact MBR unit ensures compliant wastewater treatment for soil remediation site

Problem

At Bioterra in Genk (Belgium), contaminated soil is remediated either biologically or through a physical-chemical process.
The problem arose because the soil, delivered by truck or ship, is washed with water. The resulting wastewater was previously treated using a physical-chemical process. However, this treatment method no longer complied with local discharge regulations, making an alternative solution necessary.

Solution

Logisticon Water Treatment voerde uitgebreide tests uit met een MBR-installatie (membraanbioreactor) om de beste oplossing te bepalen voor het behandelen van afvalwater. Op basis van de positieve resultaten ontwierp, bouwde en leverde Logisticon een full-scale MBR-installatie, volledig geïntegreerd in een 20ft container. In deze container is een speciaal membraancompartiment opgenomen waarin KOCH-membranen zijn geplaatst. Deze compacte, efficiënte en robuuste oplossing maakt hoogwaardige afvalwaterzuivering mogelijk binnen een beperkt ruimtebeslag.
