Supply of purified water secured for Scandinavian plant with Logisticon’s Mobile Water Solutions
Problem

A Scandinavian factory wanted to secure the future supply of treated water for its production site. The utilized system used water from a nearby lake, which underwent little to no pretreatment. Chemicals were added to keep water quality acceptable, and the system was flushed regularly to control salts and other concentrations. However, the system suffered from capacity limitations and blockages, the cause of which was not fully understood until recently.

With the intention of increasing production capacity and because of increasing pressure on the lake as a water source due to population growth, an alternative water source was sought. A nearby municipal wastewater treatment plant, located about 1.5 km from the chemical site, was identified as a potential secondary water source. The effluent quality was analyzed and found to be suitable as an alternative water source.

Solution

After a joint engineering process, an ultrafiltration plant type UF-2880 and a reverse osmosis plant type RO-108, with a combined net capacity of 100 m³/h, were chosen. Both plants were built in 40ft HC containers. This "containerized" design allows the plants to be fully built and tested before installation on site, which increases quality and operational reliability and saves installation time. Logisticon can also, with customer approval, take over remote operation of the plants to provide support for operation and maintenance.
